Abstract

Abstract. Acne vulgaris (AV) is the most common disease and is considered important in the top 10 global diseases. As many as 80% of the world's population experiences AV at least during puberty. AV manifestations are not life-threatening, but can affect social functioning such as insecurity during social interactions, which can lead to psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, or other emotional trauma that decreases quality of life. Acne vulgaris is most common in adolescents and young adults, the peak severity of AV incidence occurring at the age of 16–21 years. AV risk factors are multifactorial, intrinsic factors such as genetic and hormonal as well as extrinsic factors such as sleep quality, dietary patterns, psychological conditions and smoking. This study is a non-experimental observational descriptive design with a cross-sectional approach. The results showed that from 87 responses of class XII students of SMAN 6 Bandung for the period May-June 2023, 60% of students experienced AV events with sleep quality of less than 7 hours, students with chocolate consumption habits >2 times per week and milk consumption of >250ml per day and experienced AV events obtained results of 42.86% and 68.18%, students with stresful conditions and experienced AV events obtained 59.77% results, the majority experienced severe stres and experienced AV events result 80.77%, students with smoking habits and experienced AV incidence as much as 52.38%. In class XII students of SMAN 6 Bandung for the period of May – June based on the factors studied, not all of them experienced AV events, this is consistent with the multifactorial AV risk factor theory and needs to be analyzed the relationship between other factors because this study only describes the most visible risk factor data.
